The Mets official word on Pedro Martinez is nothing has changed and: “We’ll re-evaluate him tomorrow.” Bottom line: Martinez still has a strained right calf and they don’t know when he will be able to pitch again.
The team isn’t saying it, so I will for them. He’s not going to pitch Saturday against Colorado. Why should he?
If I am the Mets, here’s what I do: I DL him right now and work out a rehab routine to get him ready for the playoffs. No ifs, ands, or buts about it.
