Pedro Martinez is hurt. To what extent, yet, we don’t know.
Who’s to blame?
- Pedro Martinez for not having the sense to pull himself out of a game considering his injury history this year.
- Or the coaching staff for not alerting manager Willie Randolph to Martinez’s calf problem.
- Or Randolph for not having a system in place where he is notified of every little ache for his pitchers so he could make a choice.

John, you know i was gonna jump right in this one! ;-p
I think Pedro and the coaching staff. Pedro for being SO stupidly macho. and the coaching staff for not telling Willie, pedro may have a problem.
Choice 3 is moot. cause thats why you have coaches to come and tell you whensomething is downright bad1
;-]
But if you backed me into a corner on one of the 2. I would say Pedro. he gets paid far too much not to use his brain.
More importantly John did you find the 10 stone(i think thats the name)? Its near casual thai. excellent brew.
I dont think anyone is to blame. Who is to say that the injury is worse becuase of the one inning of work?
I say if Pedro says he is good to go, no one is going to question him. Thats what you get when you obtain the accomplishments Pedro has, no questions.
Perfect world Willie knows Pedro has some discomfort.
However I feel that even if Willie heard about the tight calf, Pedro still would have pitched.
Steve C. ...
I knew you would. This is a hanging curveball for you. Pedro should have been smart enough to think about this. You’re up by 15 games. You’ve been injured already this season. You know your importance to the team. Just shut it down.
And, I understand when the coaches say Pedro knows himself better than anybody, but that’s not the issue. It is always better to make a mistake on the side of caution.
Sure, the possibility existed of Martinez getting pulled and nothing happening. That’s better than what happened, right?
And, no, I haven’t found 10 Stone yet. I meant to last night but there was a lot of stuff happening and I think tonight might be more of the same.
Jonas …
He probably would have pitched if he said he could make it. But, eventually the manager has to step up, look at the bigger picture, and say not tonight.
John …
It has to be Martinez. He held up things all spring until everything was perfect. He can’t be that stupid to pitch when he’s not feeling right.
