This is what drives me crazy about watching Steve Trachsel. It’s 5-0 in the second inning and he’s screwing around out there. Second and third and one out. This could be a blowout, but how much do you want to bet it’s gonna get tight tonight?
well with the game over right now,i just want to say that i would be very happy to have steve trachsel dfa.Thats not going to happen, but at least i can take solace in the fact this will be his last year as a met. He just nibbles so much. He’s also clearly debunking two myths about him this year. One: he’s an innings eater. its becoming increasingly clear he does not eat innings.6-0 nothing lead early and he cant even sniff the seventh inning. Two: He’s a control pitcher. Well the fact that he will probably end the year with more walks than strikeouts is just embarrasing. This guys record just shows how flukey win-loss records are.He is a product of his run support. If you look up his numbers, they are really not that much different than kaz ishii from last year. the difference….you guessed, run support. Good luck in kansas city next year steve
You know what’s hard to believe? Trachsel has 10 wins, which ties him for third in the NL. With a lead like that he has to get them into the seventh, perhaps longer. With the bullpen the way it is, the Mets need to get one more inning a game out of their starters. No two ways about it.
One more thing, Dan …
Your comment on walks and strikes was interesting. After tonight he has 54 walks and 53 strikeouts. Hits and walks together, he has allowed 188 runners in 116 innings. That’s too many guys on base if you’ve already given up 17 homers. He makes for a lot of nervous energy.
hopefully hes offered arbitration, signs a contract somewhere else and we get a nice draft pick. The main thing that annoys me about trachsel is it seems like he will walk guys he doesnt want to hurt him, which is fine if you get the following guy,but he usually just ends up walking that guy too,or giving up a hit. Im so sick of having to watch a contact staff, thats what makes maine so intriguing, yeah hell never be an ace,but when he needs to,he has the ability to throw a fastball by someone, which is refreshing on this staff
Trachsel is like every girl I ever dated in high school. A tease that was a disappointment.
you got me curious. what high school. just wanna compare my HS to yours.
