Mets GM Omar Minaya said it was important to get a look at Pedro Martinez before the trade deadline. He couldn’t have liked what he saw in the first. The Braves scored four and hit everything hard.
Minaya must answer this question: Was it rust or is there reason to believe the aches are part of a breakdown?
It was rust.
Over the next five innings, he gave up one hit. He wasn’t overly powerful tonight, but after the first he sure was effective. I’m no longer worried
How great was it to see Wagner dominantly close out the ninth? Man, we Mets’ fans have wanted to see something like that all season.
That’s what they said … he looked as dominating as possible after the first. Twenty-four pitches in the first; 77 overall.
