Just walked in the door … an unbelievable day of travel. Turned on the TV and there it was, the ninth incredible inning, and John Maine is throwing a shutout. I thought I turned on the Fantasy Channel. Nope.
Willie Randolph gambled, choosing to burn Maine over Orlando Hernandez in case of a series of rain delays. Good move on his part turned out great. Of course, Maine had to do his job.
Yeah, I know, I’m the wet blanket. It’s only one. But, it WAS A BIG ONE. Maine not only gets the win, but saves the bullpen. The Mets needed something like this. Yet another sign this is turning out to be an amazing season.
By the way, Internet access in Cincinnati was horrible. Hit and miss in getting on. I did get some nice comments that I appreciate. Thanks.
Talk with you from Shea tomorrow.
