“No parachutes yet. Can’t be skydivers… I can’t tell just yet what they are, but – Oh my God, Johnny, they’re turkeys!! Johnny, can you get this? Oh, they’re plunging to the earth right in front of our eyes! One just went through the windshield of a parked car! Oh, the humanity! The turkeys are hitting the ground like sacks of wet cement! Not since the Hindenberg tragedy has there been anything like this!” — Les Nessman
One of the classic segments in one of the underrated sit-coms of all time. Followed, of course, by, “As God as my witness, I thought turkeys could fly.”
Anyway, greetings from Cincinnati, where the Ohio River is a lovely shade of coffee brown. Another 95-degree day. Modern park. I sure hope they have AC in this place.
The Mets? What’s going on with them?
Jose Reyes is expected to play. … Will speak to David Wright and expect him to refute all this revival stuff. Of course, if there are any snakes in his locker, that would be a bad sign. … Pedro could throw in the bullpen today, but not too long ago I saw a Met hunched over in the locker room. … There will be a lot of trade rumors over the next two weeks. Omar Minaya will talk to everybody, but don’t count on any “name” pitcher coming here.
Will check in later … have a good day and stay cool.
