Mets decided to leave for Cincinnati today rather than after the game. Spending the day in Chicago is always a good call. It’s the first time I’ve ever beaten the team to the next city.
Mets get their second look at Mike Pelfrey tomorrow. Pitching coach Rick Peterson said he’s at a similar maturity level of the Big Three — Barry Zito, Mark Mulder and Tim Hudson — that he had when he was coaching in Oakland. That’s good company. We’ll see how it plays out tomorrow.
The general feeling is his nerves should be calmer. If so, that should prevent overthrowing. Truth is, Mets didn’t want to bring him along this soon, but had no choice. Talking to Pelfrey and the feeling is he’s more relaxed.
