Greetings from Toronto, which for me has always been one of my favorite stops on the tour. This is a clean town, a fun town with plenty to do and places to eat, and today is the start of the Toronto Jazz Festival. Later in the summer there will be a movie festival. I’ve been here before with the Yankees and Orioles and have been to both.
This is a great city to walk around in. Lots of music/video and bookstores. There’s a theater behind the hotel where I stay, and the next street over is a restaurant where they play live jazz. I told Bernie Williams about it a couple of years ago and he said he’d check it out. Not far from that is the hockey Hall of Fame.
Not far from the park there’s a bar/restaurant near the park called “Fred’s Not Here,’’ which makes me laugh every time I pass.
SkyDome, however, is deteriorating. They call it Rogers Centre now, but the Canadian communications giant isn’t pumping any money into the place. When I first started coming here the Blue Jays were getting almost four million a year. Tonight, I’m willing to bet there might be as many as a dozen empty sections.
If you ever get a chance, this is a place for a great weekend getaway.

Hey John, I enjoy your stuff.
I’ll be at the game tonight. Can’t miss an oppertunity to see my beloved Mets when they’re playing so close to home.
Glad to read that you’re enjoying the your stay in the city.
JR … Thanks for the kind words. I do like this town. Maybe it’s a sign I’ve been doing this too long, but when I checked into the hotel several people working the front desk remembered me by name. I felt like Norm walking into Cheers.
Enjoy the game.
