Carlos Delgado just finished holding court. Of course, he said all the right things about returning to Toronto. One thing interesting he did say was he wouldn’t discount the possibility of coming back here after his contract expires. “If that is an option,” he said.
Don’t know how much of that is being politically correct or he really means it. But if he plays out his contract through the 2008, if he’s still playing as well as he is now and the Mets are winning, I don’t see why he wouldn’t want to play in the new park when it opens the following year.
By the way, Julio Franco was originally going to play first tonight, but Delgado asked to play the field.
