What, you expected this to last forever?
“We didn’t think we were going to win 15 in a row,” manager Willie Randolph said after the Mets’ winning streak was snapped at eight last night.
They didn’t play well. Four hits just won’t get it done, and it certainly won’t overcome a meltdown like Aaron Heilman’s. Four runs in the seventh. Heilman has been in a funk and the culprit is mechanics. Arm slot to be specific. He’s releasing the ball too soon.
The bottom line is his pitches are coming in fat … real hittable stuff out over the plate. This is a key guy for the Mets. He’s someone they need to turn it around.
Oh well, eight straight was a nice little ride and they have Pedro Martinez going tomorrow. By the way, couldn’t hear the booing all the way from Philly?
