Game about to re-start in Philly after a rain delay. What do these guys do during a delay? That’s something I’m working on, and so far the answer isn’t a whole lot of nothing.
A Philly writer just walked by with the largest plate of nachos I’ve seen in ages. I bet they aren’t scarfing that in the clubhouse. You really can’t eat. What if they play again? Babe Ruth might have played on a full belly, but not many others.
Mostly, it’s the same stuff they do before the game. Some hit in the tunnel. Others watch videos. There’s TV, magazines, iPods and cell phones.
The interesting thing, is when do they lose the competitive edge? When does it turn off?
Mets lead, 7-2. Darren Oliver coming out and not Orlando Hernandez. What a kicker for El Duque. This could have been a gimme three-inch putt of a win for him, but he gets nothing.

This is pretty interesting. Has Willie gotten generally more lax on his rules in the clubhouse? Last year I recall he wouldn’t allow music to be played, etc and was big on what he termed “having a professional atmosphere.” But it seems from varied things I’ve read this season that he’s lightened up on that…or at least the music aspect of it. What would you say about that?
You hear it correctly. Winning does loosen things up and there’s a musical beat in the clubhouse these days.
