Cliff Floyd will try to test his sprained left ankle at BP, but Willie Randolph doesn’t expect him to play until Tuesday. With Lastings Milledge playing so well, there’s no reason to push it. By the way, Randolph is sticking with Milledge in left and Endy Chavez in right, citing Chavez being the better defensive player.
Even after the Kaz Matsui trade Randolph still won’t admit Valentin is his regular second baseman. Not sure why, but he’s not budging on that.
A lot of Mets say they’ll miss Matsui as a teammate, but said the pressure melted him. “You could tell it got to him,’’ Chris Woodward said. “New York is a tough place to play when you don’t live up to expectations.’’
Tonight’s starter, Steve Trachsel, is 3-2 with a 3.30 ERA lifetime in nine starts against Arizona.
