Mathematically, all games are the same, but not so when the measure is emotions.
When a team plays an ace line Tom Glavine on three days rest in June, it really wants it. But, with two starters out with injuries and Carlos Delgado resting, there was no logical way to think it would happen.
Especially after Glavine coughed up a four-run lead. But, it did. David Wright and Carlos Beltran had big games. Julio Franco drove in two runs and Jose Valentin another. Lastings Milledge hit a big homer. It all added up to 9-7, Mets.
Willie Randolph doesn’t swoon, but admitted, “this was a big win for us.”
