This just came our way: Jose Reyes was scratched about 10 minutes ago with a sore right wrist from tonight’s starting lineup against the Dodgers and will be replaced by Chris Woodward, both at shortstop and in the leadoff spot.
Jay Horwitz, the team’s spokesman, said Reyes felt something after Monday’s game and it didn’t feel better after batting practice.
Manager Willie Randolph spoke about Reyes before the game, but hinted nothing was wrong with his wrist. Just his hitting approach. Reyes hit his sixth homer on Monday, but Randolph said, “I don’t want him getting caught up in hitting home runs.’’
Reyes is hitting .247 with six homers and 29 RBI, but that average could be a lot higher if he concentrated on hitting the ball on the ground.
I’ll fill you in after the game, but as of now, this seems to be a one-game thing.
