With the Giants coming in once this summer, you knew they would wait to get this one in. Ooops, better make that two.
That’s the tradeoff for interleague play and the unbalanced schedule. If you want gimmicks like those, you pay the price … that means sometimes sitting in the rain. If the Giants were coming back, say in August, this one would have been called hours ago.
By the way, Willie Randolph’s thinking for going with Orlando Hernandez over Tom Glavine in Game 1 was because he Duque could better adapt to a delay once the game started.
The weather is supposed to be better for Game 2, which lessens the odds of a delay and possibly wasting a Glavine start. And, with the way he’s going, no way they want to do that.
