There was booing, of course, plus a group with asterisk signs. There was the “Babe did it on beer and hot dogs” banner, which first surfaced in Philly. Mostly, it has been a pretty tame greeting for Barry Bonds during his first two at-bats. Maybe it’s because everybody is tired and damp.
Remember the George Carlin routine on the seven words you can’t say on television? As far as I recall, steroids isn’t one of them.
Listening to the FOX announcers during Bonds’ at-bat. They must be contractually bound by MLB not to use the word “steroids.” We all know why Bonds is getting booed. Would be nice if these national announcers would speak up about the issue. Sweet Lou talked about all the respect Bonds is getting with the intentional walks. How about the declining respect for cheating?
