Pedro Martinez pitching for the Mets tonight, Roger Clemens back with the Astros and Dwight Gooden in jail.
Clemens and Pedro are going to be in the Hall of Fame someday; Gooden could have been.
The only voting these days on Doc are whether he’ll turn his life around.
Interesting story came out today, with him saying he’d “rather get shot than come back here,” meaning prison for violating his probation.
The roots to Gooden’s fall came at the zenith of his career, winning the 1986 World Series. Twenty years later, he’s busted while the anniversary of that championship is being celebrated.
“I look back at ’86 and I remember when that season was over, that’s when I first got started with cocaine,” Gooden said. “Now here we are 20 years later, the team is celebrating that year and I’m in prison because of cocaine. It’s a sad story, really.”
