There’s so much on my plate these days, and fortunately one more item wasn’t added to the list: Buying a new computer.
Balls fly up to the press box every so often. During the Subway Series I got up to get a cup of coffee and when I came back my colleague Brian Heyman had a baseball next to his notepad.
“Hey, where’d that come from?” I asked.
“You really don’t want to know,” he said, then proceeding telling me how a foul ball missed my computer screen by two inches.
Lucky me. I’m thinking, “what are the odds of it happening again?”
Well, Jose Valentin proved they are pretty good. Last inning one of his zipped by about two feet from my head.
In one motion I closed my screen, watched the ball hit the back wall and skip down the front row table like a flat stone on a lake.
I suppose, it’s safe for me to get that coffee now.
I mean, what are the odds of it happening again?
By the way. Lastings Milledge is 0-for-2, and Eric Byrnes and Conor Jackson just took Alay Soler deep. It’s 7-1 D-Backs.
Mets look listless at the plate. They’d better pick it up if they are going to have one of those amazing nights.
