Floyd, Beltran day-to-day …
If Victor Diaz got on a plane tonight for Norfolk, he might be on another one tomorrow morning back to New York.
Diaz was optioned to Class AAA Norfolk prior to tonight’s 4-3 victory over Atlanta, a game marred by Cliff Floyd’s rib cage injury.
Floyd strained his left rib cage scoring what proved to be the game-winning run in the fourth inning on Xavier Nady’s single and is day-to-day.
“I couldn’t breathe,” Floyd said.
The Mets are also without center fielder Carlos Beltran, who missed his second straight game tonight with a tight right hamstring. Beltran said trying to play through last year’s quad injury taught him to treat his aches and pains conservatively.
